Nellara Puttu with Spicy Beef Curry
Soft puttu, made with Nellara Instant Puttu Podi, pairs best with spicy beef curry cooked using Nellara Beef Masala. This most favourite homely combo of North Indians, rich in flavours, gives everyone a real treat. This Kerala classic tasty dish is perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Ingredients:
For Puttu:
- 2 cups Nellara Instant Puttu Podi
- Water (as needed)
- Salt (a pinch)
- Freshly grated coconut

To For Beef Curry:
- ½ kg beef (cleaned and cut into pieces)
- 2 tbsp Nellara Beef Masala
- 2 onions (sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- Curry leaves
- Coconut oil
- Salt to taste

Method
To Make Puttu:
- Take Nellara Instant Puttu Podi in a bowl. Sprinkle water little by little and mix until it becomes soft.
- Add a pinch of salt.
- Layer grated coconut and puttu mix alternately in a puttu maker.
- Steam for 5–7 minutes until the steam comes out from the puttu maker.
To Make Beef Curry:
- Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker. Add sliced onions, curry leaves, and ginger-garlic paste. Fry until golden.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft.
- Add beef pieces, Nellara Beef Masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Add a little water, cover, and cook until the beef is tender.
- Open the lid and cook in a simmer flame until the curry thickens.
Serve:
Serve hot Nellara Puttu with the tasty Beef Curry. The soft taste of puttu perfectly balances the fiery beef masala – a true Kerala favourite for any meal.
